Foodgasm: Cafe Mary Grace Trinoma

Two weeks ago, my friends and I finally had time to hang out after months of not seeing each other. Marianne offered to treat us to a food trip. Cafe Mary Grace used to get her attention everytime she goes to Trinoma so she chose it. Why not, when it's just located across National Bookstore on the ground floor.

I'm very much glad to have another experience in fine dining that I seldom could with the scarcity of money in my pocket. The place has a serene ambiance and a sophisticated touch to it. In fact, we were able to spot a celebrity to a table next to us (that we failed to take a picture with).

Delectable food: Yum!

Special Grilled Chicken with Couscous

The special menu for the day is Special Grilled Chicken with Couscous that our generous friend ordered. And I find the main dish of the day fascinating since I came across this 'couscous' just two days before through a book, Gabriel's Inferno. In the book, due to that lack of funds, the heroine retorted to eating couscous most of her freshman year taking up Master's degree and Gabriel hated couscous since it reminds him of the girl's inadequacy in satiating a basic need as food and he has to stop himself from thinking about the girl out of pity, self-disgust for his arrogance, and perhaps, a conflicting feeling he won't dare to name. So much for couscous, huh?

My friend liked the Chicken but not the meal in general. I should have eaten her couscous but I don't want to be unabashed. She didn't like the cooked tiny round rice-like grains that accompanied it. And so do I when I tasted it. In the end, she just toyed with her food like a child after ravaging the chicken.

And here's what my other friend ordered. Since we're so used to eating tomato-based pasta (Alfredo), we decided to have a go with cream-based ones (Carbonara). I also had a taste with her Raspberry Tea and it tasted just the typical raspberry drink you can buy in other restaurants. Very typical but raspberry is very rare in the Philippines. Raspberry is also my favorite flavor when it comes to ice cream. I should have ordered one on my own.

Cafe Mary Grace Smoked Salmon and Cream Pasta with Apple and Cinnamon Honey Homemade Tea Drink

Here's what I ordered. Perhaps, the best homemade tea they're serving is Apple and Cinnamon Honey. The mixture of three different tastes suited it so well. Even with the myriad of flavors, I could still distinguish each one of them. And the taste of honey is genuine. Why I chose this drink? I love Cinnamon! Between raspberry and cinnamon, the latter is rarer for me.

I love seafood. And I wanted to know how Salmon tastes like ever since I chance upon it on a book when I was ten. Fortunately, I get to stake on it alongside pasta in cream sauce. And I'm so loving it! They're not stingy with their serving. Normally, I wouldn't get full without rice no matter how varied the carbs I eat in a meal. But with the pasta dish alone, my stomach wanted to burst!

Chocolate Cake

Anyone can write his/her feedback about the place and put the paper underneath the glass table top. And because I kept uttering about people's write-ups of how amazed they were with the chocolate cake, my friend could do no more than order one so we could taste it too.

It really melts in the mouth!

They put lovely decorations on the table like this pink pseudo flowers made of shells and lighted candles too!

And that's our happy faces. Everything's pricey with a dish starting at P200-something. But with the pleasant-tasting food and dainty vibe of the place, the expenditure is all worth it.

We love to hear from you
