She’s undercover and in over her head…When FBI analyst Tara Jacobs’ fellow agent and best friend goes missing while investigating a sex ring, Tara goes undercover as a submissive in a Dallas BDSM club called Dominion. But no man can top a woman with Tara’s moxie convincingly enough—until an edgy, dangerous Dom takes control of the scene and sets her heart racing with a single, commanding glance. Too bad he’s also the man who stole her innocence years ago—and the one to whom she will never submit.
He’s got everything under control…until he falls for her again.
Navy SEAL Logan Edgington once left the woman he loved to save her life. He knows Tara will never forgive him, but he has no doubt that he possesses the knowledge to master her fears and the strength to guide her through an unfamiliar world of pleasure and pain. He alone can protect her on a dangerous mission that reveals both wicked depravities and terrible secrets. Logan relishes the exquisite torture of holding her again, feeling her uninhibited response. No matter how much Tara insists their fling will end after this mission, he’s determined that she will be his again—and this time, he’ll never let her go.
When her friend has gone missing in the middle of an investigation of a sex trafficking ring, it falls into Tara's hand to save her friend. She has the looks to be the bait and according to her FBI psychological profile, she has a submissive streak, just effing perfect to be a submissive to be sold to the highest bidder in an underground business where she'd likely be killed after.
I put quotation marks when referring to the heroine, Tara Jacobs, because I don't find her badass nor appealing at all. She's too soft to be a field agent. Simply put, she's not cut out for the FBI. She was described to be really good at puzzles and yet, she has not figured out things that are too close to home. And I mean literally. She's too sloppy to be an analyst either. I could have blamed Shayla Black for putting her up.
While I find that character lousy, I love Black's enthralling writing and that's the only reason why I stay put. That and of course, there's Logan Edgington, the smoking hot with all sharp edges of a Dominant that he is. Has he been paired up with a different woman, he would have been my favorite in the series. But because I adore his 'little' sister Kimber, the heroine of the second book, Logan is relegated to second, right next to Deke Trenton, now Kimber's husband.
As usual, the book is all sex across the pages. While Fifty Shades bored me to death with all the sex scenes, The Wicked Lovers Series kept me pump up all throughout. Belong to Me is bombarded with depravity and yet, Shayla Black doesn't overdo it here. I was still attentive with the words and still rooting for Logan's HEA despite my general dislike for Tara. I love the hero and to me, that's what matters for this erotic read.
